Scraped to Perfection in Temescal

A new town-loft development in Temescal has just opened its doors to potential buyers. The ten homes are on Shattuck Avenue, close to all the good things of this great neighborhood, priced from $579,000 to $669,000.

I have yet to see them. The look seems a bit of a mash-up — contemporary build with some traditional touches thrown in to attract those of a more conservative bent. And does anyone know just why some poor sod had to get on his knees to “hand scrape” the teak floors?

When I blogged about Temescal in August last year, many readers questioned just how safe this neighborhood is. They will probably still think a “quick 8-block walk” to MacArthur BART would not be advisable late at night.

The flip side is you would have take-out blistered pizza from the best Italian restaurant in the Bay Area on your doorstep. (I’m still relishing a fabulous dinner I ate there last night at a private fundraising event for my kids’ school.)
