A Julia Morgan Possible with Potential

Etna

Newly listed at 2618 Etna Street in Berkeley is what may be a 1906 Julia Morgan-designed home which looks like it’s worth a visit.

First time on the market in 100 years, according to the listing and there are lots of original period details to savor, as well as a fair amount of space — more than 2,500 sq ft of house, as well as a large empty basement and separate studio apartment.

The listing also describes the $950,000 house as “warmly livable” which translates for me as “needs updating”. The pink front door would be the first thing I would change, but I like the sunroom and porch and the general feel of the place. It’s open this Sunday if you’re so inclined.

The last home that came up on Etna was next door at 2616 –  a definite Julia Morgan and very beautiful — and it sold in a flash in December last year for $1.3m on an asking price of $1,115,000.
