Proving that there are always homes which will defy market rules if the right stars align for seller and buyer, the “majestic Monterey Colonial” home at 245 Alvarado Road in Berkeley (above) sold comfortably over its asking price.
The 5/5 house, with its “graceful balconies, terraces, landscaped gardens and grand rooms for entertaining”, went on the market in October for $1,850,000 and sold earlier this month for $1,915,000.
It’s not the only high-end home to have been snapped up recently. Home Girl has it on good authority that local architect David Stark Wilson has found a buyer for his $3,275,000 home in the Berkeley-Oakland hills. Given that it only went on the MLS in November, that is something of a result.
